OSHA ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to elevated noise levels: Coops: An employee that works primarily as a composter is exposed to hazardous noise levels. On May 6, 2014, the employee was exposed to continuous noise levels of 147.9% of the permissible exposure level PEL dose. The equivalent dBA for 147.9% of the dose is 92.8 dBA, calculated as the 8 hour time weighted sound pressure limit dose. The employee was monitored for 347 minutes. Zero exposure was assumed for the remaining 133 minutes of the workday. Exposure to excessive noise levels may cause a standard threshold shift and result in permanent hearing loss.
