29 CFR 1910.1026(f)(1)(ii): Painting of aircraft or large aircraft parts was performed; however, the employer did not use feasible engineering and work practice controls to reduce and maintain employee exposures to chromium (VI) to or below 25 micrograms per cubic meter of air: This violation occurred on or about June 20, 2014, in hangar C, where the employer did not use feasible engineering and/or work practice controls to reduce and maintain employee exposures to chromium (VI) to or below 25 micrograms per cubic meter of air. a. An employee priming an aircraft was exposed to chromium (VI) at an eight-hour time-weighted average of 166.5 micrograms per cubic meter of air, approximately 6.7 times 25 micrograms per cubic meter of air. Sampling was performed for 41 minutes. Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 439 minutes. b. An employee priming an aircraft was exposed to chromium (VI) at an eight-hour time-weighted average of 205.6 micrograms per cubic meter of air, approximately 8.2 times 25 micrograms per cubic meter of air. Sampling was performed for 37 minutes. Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 443 minutes. c. An employee priming an aircraft was exposed to chromium (VI) at an eight-hour time-weighted average of 52.7 micrograms per cubic meter of air, approximately 2.1 times 25 micrograms per cubic meter of air. Sampling was performed for 40 minutes. Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 440 minutes.
