29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): Each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels, was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail systems, warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system. a. On or about 03/18/2014, Advanced Roofing, Inc. - Cyril E. King Airport- Roof Area, St. Thomas, VI : Employees engaged in roofing operations were observed painting and caulking over the roof surface in which were walking, with an unprotected side or edge at 10 ft. high from the lower level without a conventional fall protection system, such as guardrail, safety net, or personal fall arrest system in place. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
