29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): "Residential construction." Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. WORKSITE: The employee performing roofing work on the eave and rake edge of a low (4/12) pitch roof was not protected from the hazard of falling 10 feet to the ground by the use of appropriate personal fall arrest or equivalent systems.

29 CFR 1926.552(a)(1): The employer shall comply with the manufacturer's specifications and limitations applicable to the operation of all hoists and elevators. Where manufacturer's specifications are not available, the limitations assigned to the equipment shall be based on the determinations of a professional engineer competent in the field. WORKSITE: The RGC Pro 200 Track Materials hoist was used by employees as a means to access the roof with the material hoist attached.
