29 CFR 1910.303(b)(1)(ii): Electrical equipment was not free from recognized hazards, based on the mechanical strength and durability, including, for parts designed to enclose and protect other equipment, the adequacy of the protection thus provided: a) SE Corner Plaza, Voice and Data #13; Cubicle wiring, which should have been enclosed, was exposed and bare copper wiring was showing, exposing employees to possible electrical shock hazards.

29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled electrical equipment was not used or installed in accordance with instructions included in the listing or labeling: (a) 2nd Floor, Cubicle 2T4; A fan was plugged into a brown extension cord, violating the extension cords UL listing and labeling for temporary use. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. (b) Plaza Level, Cubicle P30; A Pelonis heater was plugged into a relocatable power tap. The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed for low amperage computer and audiovisual types of equipment, and not appliances. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. (c) 4th Floor, Cubicle 4B4; A small purple heater was plugged into a relocatable power tap. The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed for low amperage computer and audiovisual types of equipment, and not appliances. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. The Veterans Administration was previously cited for a violation of this standard which was contained in OSHA inspection no. 928064 citation 1, item 2, issued on August 27, 2013 with respect to a workplace at Reno, NV.
