29 CFR 1910.1000(e): Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not determined and implemented to achieve compliance with the limits prescribed in 29 CFR 1910.1000(a) through (d): On or about April 16, 2014: An employee working in the shakeout area to ensure excess dust is removed from parts was overexposed to respirable silica dust at a concentration of 0.91 mg/m3 expressed as an 8-hour time weighted average of approximately 1.625 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.56 mg/m3 based on a 489 minute sampling period. Engineering controls were not implemented to ensure the employee's exposure to respirable silica were within the permissible exposure limit.

29 CFR 1910.141(g)(2): Employees were permitted to consume food or beverage in area(s) exposed to toxic materials: On or about April 8, 2014: a) Employees manufacturing various automobile parts in the Finishing area were exposed to unsanitary conditions as the break room table in the finishing break room showed 142.8100 micrograms of iron oxide on a wipe sample. b) Employees manufacturing various automobile parts in the Finishing area were exposed to unsanitary conditions as the Pepsi button on the Pepsi machine in the finishing break room showed 257.0500 micrograms of iron oxide on a wipe sample. c) Employees manufacturing various automobile parts in the Finishing area were exposed to unsanitary conditions as the water spout from the water jug in the finishing area showed 219.6000 micrograms of iron oxide on a wipe sample.
