29 CFR 1910.124(g)(2): Employees who worked with liquids that could burn, irritate, or otherwise harm their skin were not provided with an emergency shower and eye-wash station close to the dipping and coating operation: Note: In place of this equipment, the employee may use a water hose that is at least 4 feet (1.22 m) long and at least 3/4 of an inch (18 mm) thick with a quick-opening valve and carrying a pressure of 25 pounds per square inch (1.62 k/cm2) or less. On or about April 17, 2014, and at times prior thereto, employees were dipping parts in to vats containing zinc and chromium. The emergency shower and eye wash was located between two dipping rooms and not near the vats in either room. In addition there is mechanical equipment next to the shower and eye wash that restricted access in the event of an emergency. Employees were exposed to chemical burn hazards.
