29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met. This violation occurred on April 24, 2014 where employees who were exposed to corrosive chemicals such as hydrochloric acid. No written program had been implemented to communicate the chemical hazards and measures needed to protect employees who are exposed to the chemicals. a. Employees working in the pool area are exposed to hydrochloric acid and other corrosive chemicals on a daily basis while adjusting the pH and cleaning the water in the pool; b. Maids and housekeeping staff are exposed to hazardous cleaning products on a daily basis while cleaning the facility; c. Employees who work in the laundry room are exposed to hazardous chemicals on a daily basis while laundering bedding and towels.
