29 CFR 1926.850(a): An engineering survey was not performed by a competent person to determine the conditions of the framing floors and walls and the possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations. a) 11th floor, terracotta stones on window lintels: The employer did not conduct an engineering survey of the window lintels made of terracotta stones to determine the possibility of unplanned collapse of the damaged terracotta stones prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations. A damaged terracotta stone collapsed and fell to the street level during demolition operations. On or about 04/25/14. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1,000 AS PER 29 CFR 1903.19.
