29 CFR 1910.22(b)(1): Aisles and passageways were not kept clear and in good repair, with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard: The employer does not keep aisles clear, with no obstruction across or in the aisle that could create a hazard. This violation was observed on or about April 28, 2014, in the production area next to the Pay Out and Take Up machines where employees were exposed to a trip hazard from conduit when walking in the area without the aisles being kept clear with no obstructions. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that all aisles are kept clear with no obstructions.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer does not guard machines to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by the operation of the machine. a. This violation was observed on or about April 28, 2014, in the production area where employees were exposed to a struck by and burn hazard when operating the Fuse and Taper machine without guarding the machine to protect the operator. b. This violation was observed on or about April 28, 2014, in the production area where employees were exposed to a struck by hazard when walking near and operating the Pay Out and Take Up machines without guarding the movement of the steel cable to protect the operator or other employees in the work area. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that all machines are guarded to protect the operator and other employees in the work area.
