On or about April 29, 2014, employees working at the funeral home embalming bodies were exposed to bloodborne pathogens hazards and the employer did not have, nor implemented a written Exposure Control Plan designed to eliminate or minimize employee exposure to the bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials.

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): Employer had not developed or implemented a written hazard communication program included the requirements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1)(i) and (e)(1)(ii):   a. On or about April 29, 2014, at the preparation room, employees were potentially exposed to flammable and corrosive chemicals such as, but not limited to, Petricel, Triton 28, Edema, and One Point which were capable of causing severe irritation and/or burns to the eye and skin.  The employer had not developed nor implemented a written hazard communication program.

29 CFR 1910.1048(d)(1)(i): Employees of a workplace covered by this standard were not monitored to determine their exposure to formaldehyde:  a. On or about May 1, 2014, an employee was exposed to formaldehyde at a Time Weighted Average (TWA) of  0.05 parts per millions (PPM), below the limit of 0.75 PPM, while embalming.  The sampling was performed for 44 minutes during one shift on May 1, 2014.  The employer did not conduct an initial monitoring to determine employees exposure to formaldehyde.
