29 CFR 1926.102(a)(2): Eye and face protection equipment required by this Part did not meet the requirements specified in American National Standards Institute, Z87.1-1968, Practice for Occupational and Educational Eye and Face Protection:  (a) At the canopy renovation project:  Ordinary sunglasses were worn instead of eye protection that met the requirements of American National Standards Institute, Z87.1. There were no Z87 markings on the sunglass frames or lenses and there were no side shield protection. Employees, that used hammers to pound some sheet metal soffits and awnings into place and battery powered drills to drill holes into the sheet metal soffits and awnings, were exposed to the hazards of being struck by sheet metal pieces or filings.
