29 CFR 1926.416(a)(1): The employer permits employees to work in proximity to electric power circuits and does not protect employees against electric shock by de-energizing and grounding the circuits or effectively guarding the circuits by insulation or other means: This violation was most recently observed on 5/9/2014 at a job site located at 290 Walden Street Cambridge MA, where employees were exposed to live electric power circuits from pushing up overhead lines using fabricated rods, so excavation equipment could drive under them, without de-energizing or guarding the lines before making contact. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that the utility company is contacted to address low hanging overhead lines, before work begins. Prior violations referred to include a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard which was contained in: P.Gioioso & Sons, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard (CFR 1926.416(a)(1)), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315556936, citation number 03, item number 001 and was affirmed as a final order on (12/7/2012), with respect to a workplace located at Grant Street and C Street, Framingham MA. Date by which the violation must be abated: Immediately upon receipt of citation. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.10(d), the employer must provide documentation that this violation has been abated within 10 calendar days of the receipt of this citation.
