OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to severe lacerations and snake and alligator bites:  a) Site - Hillsborough River  On or about 06/04/14, and at times prior thereto, employees were exposed to severe lacerations when cutting down tree limbs with a chainsaw without maintaining secure footing when standing in a canoe and when standing in the river in order to clear a navigational path for canoes and kayaks.  b) Site - Hillsborough River  On or about 06/04/14, and at times thereto, employees were exposed to snake and alligator bites while in the water cutting tree limbs in order to clear a navigational path for canoes and kayaks.

29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered:  a) Hillsborough River  Employees who operate a chainsaw from a canoe to cut downed tree limbs were not provided with hard hats, face shields or chaps, on or about, 06/04/14.   b) Hillsborough River  Employees who operate a chainsaw while standing in the water were not provided with hard hats, face shields, chaps or a personal flotation device, on or about, 06/04/14.
