29 CFR 1910.307(e): Equipment in Division 2 locations. Equipment that has been approved for a Division 1 location may be installed in a Division 2 location of the same class and group. General-purpose equipment or equipment in general-purpose enclosures was installed in Division 2 locations that the employer was unable to demonstrate the equipment did not constitute a source of ignition under normal operating conditions. On or about June 4, 2014, near the PVC Catalyst Cold Storage Unit, the employer failed to maintain a Class 1, Division 2 location free of all ignition sources when organic peroxide vapors escaped from contained storage and ignited after making contact with a motorized vehicle."
