29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. The employer failed to provide methods of machine guarding that would protect employees while operating the following equipment: a) Lathe did not have adequate protection from rotating parts and flying chips. There was no chip guard available to protect employees from rotating parts and flying chips when the lathe was in operation. b) Wen Belt Sander- The ingoing nip point on the belt and pulley was not guarded. Exposing employees to ingoing nip points. c) AMROX Band saw- The blade guard was missing, exposing employees to lacerations, fractures, and/or amputations upon accidental contact. Abatement documentation is not required for this item.
