29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a) Easton-Phillipsburg Rt. 22 Toll Bridge - Phillipsburg, NJ site - Overhead Containment enclosure: The employer failed to protect employees who perform rehabilitation operations on the upper steel beams of the bridge inside of the enclosure from falling by enforcing the use of personal fall arrest systems. The provided chain link fence safety netting system was designed 7+ feet below the steel beams. Condition noted on or about 06/18/14.
