The alleged violations below have been grouped because they involve similar or related hazards that may increase the potential for injury. 29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): a) On or about June 16, 2014 the inspection revealed that employees were potentially exposed to serious injury from acid burns because the employer did not assess, provide and require the use of PPE for employees adding water to batteries. Located throughout the facility where employees service batteries on aerial lifts. b) On or about June 16, 2014 the inspection revealed that employees were potentially exposed to serious injury from caustic or corrosive cleaners, including but not limited to, LIME-A-WAY, containing phosphoric acid, SUPER TRUMP, containing sodium hydroxide, and OASIS 146 MULTI-QUAT SANITIZER, containing quaternary ammonium compounds, used in the kitchen.
