29 CFR 1910.307(c): Equipment, wiring methods, and installations of equipment in hazardous (classified) locations were not intrinsically safe, approved for the hazardous (classified) location, or safe for the hazardous (classified) location Powder Coating: The employer failed to ensure that all electrical equipment operated in the area was approved for a DIVISION 1, CLASS II location. Employees were exposed to a fire/explosion hazard while powder coating various articles utilizing materials such as, but not limited to, TCI sky white and TCI poly beige. A sample taken on June 20, 2014 was determined to be a Division I CLASS II explosive combustible dust. a) Florescent lighting in System 1 Powder Coating room was not explosion proof lighting. b) Nortech vacuum (model N151SC) was utilized to remove combustible dust from the floor of the work room.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): The employer did not provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new physical or health hazard the employees had not previously been trained about was introduced into their work area: a) Production Area: The employer failed to ensure that all exposed employees were provided training on the hazards of combustible dust. Employees were exposed to a fire/explosion hazard while performing duties involving the powder coating of various articles utilizing materials such as, but not limited to TCI poly beige and TCI sky white. A sample taken on June 20, 2014 was determined to be CLASS II combustible dust.
