29 CFR 1910.255(b)(4): All press welding machine operations, where there was a possibility of the operator's fingers being under the point of operation, were not effectively guarded by use of a device such as an electronic eye safety circuit, two hand controls two hand controls or protection similar to that prescribed for punch press operation.    a) Component Shop, 600 Sanders Street, Scranton, PA - Employees welded metal parts together with a foot pedal activated LORS/Techna Rocker Arm Resistance Welder Model No. 4608NA while holding the metal parts by hand in a five and five-eighths-inch (5-5/8") gap between the upper and lower electrodes. Employees were exposed to a caught-between hazard as observed on July 3, 2014.      b) Component Shop, 600 Sanders Street, Scranton, PA - Employees welded metal parts together with a foot pedal activated LORS/Techna Rocker Arm Resistance Welder Model No. 4622N while holding the metal parts by hand in a four and three-quarter-inch (4-3/4") gap between the upper and lower electrodes. Employees were exposed to a caught-between hazard as observed on July 3, 2014.    In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation.
