Employees were exposed to  fire and explosion hazards.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:     On or about June 24, 2014, and at times prior thereto, employees were allowed to operate machines that were found not having proper guards provided, including but not limited to the following instances:     1) At the small shear area, a small shear being operated via a foot pedal.  There was a machine guard provided however the openings were big that could allow a hand to enter the point-of-operation.     2) In the machine shop are, a horizontal band saw being operated without blade guard provided to protect employees from contacting the unused portion of the blade while in operation.     3) In the shipping area, a trash compactor being operated without a dead man switch or an interlock gate provided to prevent employees entering the trash compactor while in operation.   Employees were exposed to possible amputation and crushing hazards.
