1910.106(e)(6)(i) "General." Adequate precautions shall be taken to prevent the ignition of flammable vapors. Sources of ignition include but are not limited to open flames; lightning; smoking; cutting and welding; hot surfaces; frictional heat; static, electrical, and mechanical sparks; spontaneous ignition, including heat-producing chemical reactions; and radiant heat.  a) Metal containers with a diesel and unleaded gasoline mixture were stored adjacent to a smoking area next to the warehouse.  This item was corrected during the inspection.  The Bureau of Land Management was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.106(e)(6)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 107193, citation number 2, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on February 3, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 3040 Delta Highway in Eugene, Oregon, 97408.

29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4): Work rests were not kept adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one-eighth inch to prevent the work from being jammed between the wheel and the rest.  a) In the Heavy Equipment Shop, the work rest on a Cincinnati Abrasive Wheel Grinder was one and one-half inch from the abrasive wheel.  This item was corrected during the inspection.  The Bureau of Land Management was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 107193, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on February 3, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 3040 Delta Highway in Eugene, Oregon, 97408.

29 CFR  1910.253(b)(4)(iii): Oxygen cylinders in storage were not separated from fuel-gas cylinders or combustible materials (especially oil or grease), a minimum distance of 20 feet (6.1 m) or by a noncombustible barrier at least 5 feet (1.5 m) high having a fire-resistance rating of at least one-half hour.  a) In the Heavy Equipment Shop, an acetylene cylinder was stored adjacent to seven oxygen cylinders.  This item was corrected during the inspection.  The Bureau of Land Management was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.253(b)(4)(iii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 190794, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on March 20, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 1980 Russell Road, in Merlin, Oregon 97532.

This item was corrected during the inspection.
