29 CFR 1926.501(a)(2): The employer did not determine if the walking/working surfaces on which its employees were to work had the strength and structural integrity to support employees safely: a. Publix Supermarket, 12424 Cumming Hwy., Canton, GA (Walk-in Freezer Attic) - Employees were exposed to fall hazard. Employees were required to walk and work on false floors, installing equipment communication cables above the walk-in freezer and in close proximity to the acoustical ceiling tiles which could accidently be stepped on. The employer did not determine and/or verify that the working surfaces in the attic had the structural integrity to safely support the employees, on or about July 19, 2014.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: a. Publix Supermarket, 12424 Cumming Hwy., Canton, GA (Walk-in Freezer Attic) - Employees were exposed to fall hazard. The employer did not provide fall protection to the employees who were required to walk and work, installing equipment communication cables, in areas where fall hazards existed adjacent to the walking/working surfaces, on or about July 19, 2014.
