29 CFR 1910.269(w)(6)(ii): Before employees begin work in the vicinity of vehicular or pedestrian traffic that may endanger them, the employer shall place warning signs or flags and other traffic control devices in conspicuous locations to alert and channel approaching traffic. Employees performing line-clearance tree trimming were exposed to struck-by hazards while working in the roadway and the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from traffic. Employees who were flagging did not use paddles, and a "one lane road" or similar signs was not used.
