29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Located in the metal shop, the Clausing Colchester lathe had a chuck guard was not adjusted properly to cover the whole area of hazard, potentially exposing employees to serious injury. (b) Located in the metal shop, the 80 ton Manley press arbor did not have guarding to protect employees in case that the parts being pressed were to shatter.

29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning purposes was not reduced to less than 30 p.s.i.: (a) Located in the maintenance squadron metal shop at the Clausing Colchester lathe, an air nozzle used for cleaning was not reduced to less than 30 psi, potentially exposing employees to injury. The Oregon Air National Guard was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 106767, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on November 10, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at the Maintenance Squadron of the Portland Oregon Air National Guard.
