29 CFR 1926.62(d)(2)(iii): Until the employer performed an employee exposure assessment as required in 29 CFR 1926.62(d), and documented that the employee(s) performing any of the tasks listed in 29 CFR 1926.62(d)(2)(iii)(A) and (B) was not exposed in excess of 500 ug/m3 (micrograms per cubic meter), the employer did not treat the employee(s) as if they were exposed to lead in excess of 500 ug/m3 and did not implement employee protective measures as prescribed in 29 CFR 1926.62(d)(2)(v): Protective measures including, but not limited to, providing appropriate respiratory protection, personal protective clothing, change areas, and training were not provided for employees who were using wire-wheels to remove paint containing lead from beams prior to welding.

29 CFR 1926.62(f)(1): For employees required to use respirators, the employer did not provide respirators that complied with the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.62(f)(3): At least half-face respirators, equipped with a particulate filter, were not provided for employees who were using wire-wheels to remove paint containing lead from beams prior to welding. 29 CFR 1926.62(g)(1): The employer did not assure employee use of appropriate protective work clothing and equipment that prevents contamination of the employee and the employee's garments when employees were exposed to lead above the permissible exposure limit (PEL) without regard to the use of respirators. Such appropriate protective work clothing and equipment which were not used include: i) Coveralls or similar full-body work clothing; ii) Gloves, hats, and shoes or disposable shoe coverlets; iii) Face shields, vented goggles, or other appropriate protective equipment which complies with 1910.133 of this chapter: No personal protective clothing was provided for employees who were using wire-wheels to remove paint containing lead from beams prior to welding.
