29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level was not protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems, or fall restraint systems. A metal building was being erected at the job site located at 8205 W. Kellogg in Wichita, Kansas. Employees were doing steel work activities on the roof of a new building without a fall protection system being used. Employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 24 feet and 21 feet to the ground. Thompson Construction Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 949134, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on 1/21/14, with respect to a workplace located at 2300 Tigua in Kechi, Kansas.
