29 CFR 1926.602(c)(1)(vi): Industrial truck(s) in use did not meet the applicable requirements of design, construction, stability, inspection, testing, maintenance, and operation, as defined in American National Standards Institute B56.1-1969, Safety Standards for Powered Industrial Trucks: (a)Torres Masonry Experts, Inc. at 3500 Rockmont Drive, Denver, CO 80202: On and before August 7th, 2014, the employer did not ensure that the JCB 550 forklift was properly maintained in that the backup alarm was not working for two weeks. The condition exposed employees to struck-by hazards. Abatement note: ANSI B56.1-1969 Section 702, Paragraph I provides on maintenance practices: "Brakes, steering mechanisms, control mechanisms, warning devices, lights, governors, lift overload devices, guard, and safety devices shall be inspected regularly, and maintained in a safe operating condition." Corrective action includes the use of a standardized daily inspection checklist, and a review to ensure timely corrective action is taken.
