29 CFR 1926.62(d)(1)(i): Each employer who had a workplace or operation covered by 29 CFR 1926.62 did not initially determine if any employee was exposed to lead at or above the action level of 30 micrograms per cubic meter of air (30 ug/m3) calculated as an 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA):    (a) On or about 8/8/14 at 10 South Street, employees who welded on "dirty" steel were exposed to chemical hazards from lead because the employer did not do an initial determination of these employees' lead exposure.    (b) On or about 8/8/14 at 10 South Street, employees who dry swept leaded plaster floors were exposed to chemical hazards from lead because the employer did not do an initial determination of these employees' lead exposure.

29 CFR 1926.62(d)(2)(v): Until the employer performs an employee exposure assessment as required under paragraph (d) of this section and determines actual employee exposure, the employer shall provide to employees performing the tasks described in paragraphs (d)(2)(i), (d)(2)(ii), (d)(2)(iii) and (d)(2)(iv) of this section with interim protection in accordance with the paragraph.     (a) On or about 8/8/14 at 10 South Street, employees were exposed to chemical hazards from lead while welding on "dirty steel.  The employer had not performed an exposure assessment, yet did not provide training, protective work clothing, or separate clean and dirty hygiene areas.
