29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels was not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. a) Employees were engaged in roofing tear-off activity on a second floor roof, and were exposed to a fall distance greater than 19 feet on a 9x12 pitch roof without wearing fall protection or another protective measure. b) Employees were engaged in roofing and sheeting activity on a first floor roof, and were exposed to a fall distance greater than 8 feet on a 6x12 to 1x12 pitch roof without wearing fall protection or another protective measure. Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item.
