29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained on was introduced into their work area: The employer did not ensure that employees were provided effective information on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment. An employee handling glacial acetic acid was exposed to permanent olfactory damage, as the glacial acetic acid transfer was not performed in a respirator or within a hood, and the employee had not been trained on the hazards of glacial acetic acid. Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
