OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to struck-by hazards while under and around defective automobile lifts: Shop area - On or about August 20, 2014, employees are required to work under and around fully extended hydraulic automobile lifts (Rotary #15 & #23) with defective safety locks. The employees were thereby exposed to struck-by hazards in the event the lift failed. One feasible and acceptable method, among others, would be follow specifications referenced in American National Standards of Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirement for Operation, Inspection and Maintenance ( ANSI/ALIALOIM:2008).
