29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) At the start of coil coating line 1 inside 4301 S. Spring Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63116, the employer failed to provide adequate machine guarding for employees working near the two Paxson uncoiler machines, specifically the two 16 inch mandrels that both have a maximum rotation speed of 375 feet per minute while in operation, as well as the coils themselves, which can reach a 68 inch maximum outer diameter. (b) At the end of coil coating line 1 inside 4301 S. Spring Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63116, the employer failed to provide adequate machine guarding for employees working near the Ross/ Waldren recoiler machine, specifically the 16 inch mandrel that has a maximum rotation speed of 560 feet per minute while in operation, as well as the coils themselves, which can reach a 68 inch maximum outer diameter. (c) At the start of coil coating line 2 inside 4301 S. Spring Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63116, the employer failed to provide adequate machine guarding for employees working near the two McKay/ Wean uncoiler machines, specifically the two 16 inch mandrels that both have a maximum rotation speed of 540 feet per minute while in operation, as well as the coils themselves, which can reach a 68 inch maximum outer diameter. (d) At the end of coil coating line 2 inside 4301 S. Spring Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63116, the employer failed to provide adequate machine guarding for employees working near the McKay/ Wean recoiler machine, specifically the 16 inch mandrel that has a maximum rotation speed of 600 feet per minute while in operation, as well as the coils themselves, which can reach a 68 inch maximum outer diameter.
