29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met: On or about 09/25/14, at Plaza Extra Supermarket/Plaza Extra East, St. Croix, VI. The employer did not develop a written hazard communication program to ensure safety data sheets availability as follows: a. At the meat department area. Employees used and/or handled products such as Spartan Consume LIQ (bacterial spores) during wastewater and grease trap maintenance operations. b. At the warehouse and receiving areas. Employees used and/or handled compressed gases such as propane (LPG) tanks when replacing empty tanks with new ones during Hyster forklifts maintenance operations. c. At the warehouse area. Employees used and/or handled Deka batteries (sulfuric acid) when replacing them during Hyster lift truck maintenance operations. NOTE: Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

The employer did not have a safety data sheet for each hazardous chemical as follows: a. At the meat department area.
