29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer does not guard the rotating parts of machines to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area. a. This violation occurred on or about Oct 28, 2014, on the northwest corner of the Machine Shop where employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-by hazards when operating an Doosan Puma 300 CNC Lathe Machine, serial number PM303531, without interlocking doors. b. This violation occurred on or about Oct 28, 2014, on the west wall of the Machine Shop where employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-by hazards when operating a Doosan Puma 280 CNC lathe Machine, serial number PM2801152, without interlocking doors. c. This violation occurred on or about Oct 28, 2014, on the west wall of the Machine Shop where employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-by hazards when operating a Doosan Puma 280 CNC Lathe Machine, serial number PM2800634, without interlocking doors. d. This violation occurred on or about Oct 28, 2014 on the east wall of the Machine Shop where employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-by hazards when operating a Haas SLT30 Lathe Machine, serial number 3098449, without interlocking doors. e. This violation occurred on or about Oct 28, 2014, on the east wall of the Machine Shop where employees were exposed to struck-by and caught-by hazards when operating a Haas VF6 CNC Lathe Machine, serial number 110533, without interlocking doors. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that all machines that have exposed rotating parts are guarded.
