Section (5)(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught-in-between hazards: On November 22, 2014, at the 9-inch press line, after employees completed a repair of the lower pulley shaft, an employee accessing the front area to the 9-inch hot saw was exposed to a caught-in-between hazard while the equipment was operating. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure employees do not access the hot saw area of the 9-inch press line following repairs while the equipment is operating.
