29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet or more above lower levels was not protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: Employees engaged in roofing activities were exposed to fall hazards of approximately of approximately 8ft. 4in. and 23ft. 5in. and none of the fall protection systems specified above were adequately used. Sunley Roofing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 909942, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on July 30, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 1408 Weston Point, Springfield, IL 62704. 29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): Employees shall be provided with eye and face protection equipment when machines or operations present potential eye or face injury from physical, chemical, or radiation agents. An employee performing roofing activities was exposed to a struck by hazard in the eye when using a pneumatic nail gun on a commercial construction site and the employer did not enforce the use of suitable eye protection. Sunley Roofing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.102(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 111109, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on February 7, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 3725 Bluestem Drive, Springfield, IL 62712.
