29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): Each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels, was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system; or, on roofs 50 feet (15.25 m) or less in width, the use of a safety monitoring system alone: The employer does not ensure that employees engaged in roofing activities on low-sloped roofs are protected from falling while working at heights six feet or greater. This violation occurred on or about December 22, 2014, when an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while staging roof shingles without any means of fall protection or monitoring system. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that all employees performing construction activities at heights greater than six feet are protected from falling.
