Three feet six inches of the elevated work platform around the sand shaker were not guarded by standard railing. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Employees working in the Clean-up Room were exposed to rotating parts of equipment. The rotating spindle end nuts on both ends of the Hammond Belt Sander were not provided with guards. The guards provided for the unused portions of the belts on the sander did not protect against contact with the spindle end nuts. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.

29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: Employees were exposed to injury from a projectile hazard. The adjustable tongue guards for the abrasive wheels on the 8 inch, Central Machine, bench grinder were not installed properly and would not have protected the employee in the case of an abrasive wheel failure. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(2) abatement for the above violation was verified at the time of the inspection, no certification is required.
