This violation was observed on or about January 9, 2015, on the stairs next to machine #3 where employees were exposed to fall hazards when climbing stairs having both sides open and no stair rails. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that stairway(s) less than 44 inches wide having both sides open, have one stair railing on each side.

29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: The employer does not ensure that suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were provided within the work area where injurious corrosive materials were being used. This violation was observed on or about January 9, 2015, in the water treatment area where employees were exposed to chemical burns when dispensing sodium hypochlorite with no suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body available. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body are provided within the work area when employees are exposed to corrosive chemicals.
