29 CFR 1910.134(c)(1): 29 CFR 1910.134(c)(1): In any workplace where respirators are necessary to protect the health of the employee or whenever respirators are required by the employer, the employer shall establish and implement a written respiratory protection program with worksite-specific procedures. The program shall be updated as necessary to reflect those changes in workplace conditions that affect respirator use. The employer shall include in the program the following provisions of this section, as applicable: Procedures for selecting respirators for use in the workplace; Medical evaluations of employees required to use respirators; Fit testing procedures for tight-fitting respirators; Procedures for proper use of respirators in routine and reasonably foreseeable emergency situations; Procedures and schedules for cleaning, disinfecting, storing, inspecting, repairing, discarding, and otherwise maintaining respirators;  Procedures to ensure adequate air quality, quantity, and flow of breathing air for atmosphere-supplying respirators; Training of employees in the respiratory hazards to which they are potentially exposed during routine and emergency situations; Training of employees in the proper use of respirators, including putting on and removing them, any limitations on their use; and  Procedures for regularly evaluating the effectiveness of the program.  At the time of the inspection, the employer supplied and required employees to wear 1/2 mask negative pressure respirators while working with two part epoxy coatings. The employer had not implemented an effective respirator program.  Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation.  The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful.  The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and safety data sheets.  At the time of the inspection, the employer had not trained employees on the specific chemical hazards of coatings and solvents used during application of the two part epoxy floor sealers. Employees had not been trained in the specific methods of protection such as respirators.    Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation.  The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful.  The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
