OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards: a) On or about 1/14/2015, In the "Flat Area": The braking mechanism for the bridge and trolley of the Saturn overhead hoist was not operational and allowed for excessive travel. Among other feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to provide an operational braking/ gearing mechanism for the bridge and trolley in accordance with American Society of Mechanical Engineers B30.11 - 2010 Monorails and Underhung Cranes, Section 11-1.8. Abatement certification is required for this item.
