29 CFR 1928.57(a)(11): Servicing and maintenance. Whenever a moving machinery part presents a hazard during servicing or maintenance, the engine shall be stopped, the power source disconnected, and all machine movement stopped before servicing or maintenance is performed: The employer is failing to protect employees from amputation hazards. Employees that are servicing and maintaining the mobile roller mill are not stopping the engine or disconnecting the power source to ensure all moving parts are stopped prior to the service or maintenance being performed. An employee suffered a finger amputation while he was greasing the drive chain and sprocket assembly on the roller mill on the site.
