29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section. a) Jobsite excavation: Employees were excavating to about 10 feet deep to locate the building standpipe. The excavation wall area where employees were digging toward did not have shoring or other protective system. Employees were not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system. A cave-in occurred and one employee was engulfed and trapped by soil. On or about 01/21/15.
