OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential electric shock or electrocution from 220 V electrical current supplied by unsecured flexible metal conduit for a washer in the laundry room. The flexible metal conduit was also laying on top of metal piping for the hot and cold water supply for the washer. AMONG OTHER METHODS, FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD ARE: 1) Securely fasten in place the flexible metal conduit by an approved means within 300 mm (12 inches) of the electrical box and support and secure at intervals not to exceed 1.4 m (4.5 feet) per NEC Article 348.30 (A) - 2011. 2) Relocate the electrical panel box and/or the washer to eliminate or minimize the support and securing necessary.

29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1): Sufficient access and working space was not provided and maintained about all electric equipment (operating at 600 volts, nominal, or less to ground) to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment. Hoses and 5 gallon buckets of laundry chemical prevented sufficient working space and access to an electrical panel for the Milnor washer in the laundry room.
