Electric equipment shall be free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) On or about February 9, 2015, in the pharmacy, the electrical cables from the computer terminal had developed a short, which resulted in the surge protector turning on and off. Employees were exposed to potential electrical hazards.

29 CFR 1910.304(b)(2)(iv)(B): Ground-fault circuit-interrupter protected receptacles shall be provided where replacements are made at receptacle outlets that are required to be so protected elsewhere in this subpart. AND/OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE 29 CFR 1910.303(b)(1): Electric equipment shall be free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Reference National Electric Code (National Fire Protection Association, NFPA 70, Section 210). On or about Monday, February 9, 2015, ground-fault circuit interrupters were not present throughout the labs and treatment rooms when electrical receptacles were within six feet of a water source. Employees were exposed to electrical burns, electric shock or even death by electrocution.
