29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Maintenance Area, 701 Crestwood Drive, Mountain Top, PA - Employees cut metal with a MSC Machinery 7" Metal Cutting Band Saw Model 09518879 (Serial No. 842878) that did not have a guard protecting employees from the unused portion of the moving blade, exposing employees to a potential hazard, on or about February 4, 2015. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation.

29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1): Sufficient access and working space was not provided and maintained about all electric equipment (operating at 600 volts, nominal, or less to ground) to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment. a) Storeroom, 701 Crestwood Drive, Mountain Top, PA - Boxes of equipment and janitorial supplies were stored in front of electrical equipment, two (2) electrical panels marked Lab 1 and Lab 2 and two (2) disconnects marked Outside Lights, in the Boiler Room, impeding the ready and safe operation and maintenance of the equipment by employees, as observed on or about February 4, 2015. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is not required for the violation. The hazardous condition was corrected during the inspection.
