29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Worksite located at 5750 Arbor Road, Lincoln NE: Two pallet dismantler saws (manufacturer unknown) were not provided with any type of guarding to prevent contact with the moving blades. On December 5 of 2014, an employee sustained an amputation injury on one of the unguarded saws. On each saw the area of exposed blade was 48 inches long. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful.
