29 CFR 1910.255(b)(4): All press welding machine operations, where there was a possibility of the operator's fingers being under the point of operation, were not effectively guarded by use of a device such as an electronic eye safety circuit, two-hand controls, or protection similar to that prescribed for punch press operation: a) Production Area: Point of operation guarding was not provided on the CHC machine to protect the operator and other employees from hazards created by the vertically-moving weld cylinder. Employees were exposed to caught-between hazards as observed on or about February 26, 2015. b) Production Area: Point of operation guarding was not provided on the Goodrich Sys #658 SB/BB #1 to protect the operator and other employees from hazards created by the vertically-moving weld cylinder. Employees were exposed to caught-between hazards as observed on or about February 26, 2015. c) Production Area: Point of operation guarding was not provided on the Goodrich Sys #1054 SB #3 machine to protect the operator and other employees from the hazards created by the vertically-moving weld cylinder. Employees were exposed to caught-between hazards as observed on or about February 26, 2015. d) Bars Support Area: Point of operation guarding was not provided on the SB/BB #4 machine to protect the operator and other employees from hazards created by the vertically-moving weld cylinder. Employees were exposed to caught-between hazards as observed on or about February 26, 2015. e) Production Area: Point of operation guarding was not provided on the Eurobend #1 machine to protect the operator and other employees from hazards created by vertically-moving weld cylinder. Employees were exposed to caught-between hazards as observed on or about February 26, 2015. Abatement Certification Required.
