29 CFR 1926.51(f)(1): The employer shall provide adequate washing facilities for employees engaged in the application of paints, coating, herbicides, or insecticides, or in other operations where contaminants may be harmful to the employees. Such facilities shall be in near proximity to the worksite and shall be so equipped as to enable employees to remove such substances. a. On the site where employees handled hazardous materials such as mortar which contained Portland Cement, the employer did not provide hand washing facilities for employees to rinse thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.

29 CFR 1926.451(b)(1)(i): Each platform unit (e.g., scaffold plank, fabricated plank, fabricated deck, or fabricated platform) shall be installed so that the space between adjacent units and the space between the platform and the uprights is no more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, except where the employer can demonstrate that a wider space is necessary (for example, to fit around uprights when side brackets are used to extend the width of the platform). a. On the fourth level where employees built a scaffold to lay concrete block, there was a 25 inch gap to the back side of the scaffold platform thereby exposing employees to a fall hazard.

Such activities shall be performed only by experienced and trained employees selected for such work by the competent person. a.
